Overall Season Rating
Overall season rating is an attempt to rate each team in a given season. Only matches played during the season are considered in these calculations. Rating takes into account opponent strength and venue advantage/disadvantage.
In addition, ratings are calculated from adjusted scores which are a weighted average of a team’s actual score and their score had they kicked at an expected accuracy. The expected accuracy is a weighted average of the competition-wide accuracy and the team’s accuracy in the current season.- Rating: Estimated points above or below an average team for the given season.
- Relative Rating: Standardised rating (Rating / standard deviation of all ratings for the given season.)
- Attack: Estimated points scored above or below an average team for the given season.
- Relative Attack: Standardised attack rating
- Defense: Estimated points conceded above or below an average team for the given season.
- Relative Defense: Standardised defensive rating
- Adjusted %: (Competition Average Score + Attack Rating) / (Competition Average Score - Defense Rating) × 100
- Adjusted Rating: Square root of the absolute value of (Adjusted % / 100 - 1) × Relative Rating, multiplied by the sign of the overall team rating.
Rating at End of Season
End-of-season ratings are an estimate of a team’s rating after the last match of the season, which will be weighted toward the latest results in the given season.
